A harp that whispers in the dark.

Some recording projects lend themselves more than others to the now simple appellation of extraordinary, especially when this is witness to a project that unites the dream world and the waking world in a silver thread in a dance of music that moves between darkness and deep night.

With the harp as his faithful travelling companion, harpist and harp historian Giuliano Marco Mattioli presents his new solo album published by Da Vinci Classics entitled 'Notte: Solo Harp Nocturnal Works of the 20th Century'. Conceived over more than 10 years of intense activity - as a concert performer, soloist and not least as a restorer of antique harps - the project carefully and skilfully brings together a vast array of works by different composers and aesthetics from the entire 20th century. Together they form a compelling narrative of a web of fears and dreams, revealing the intimate and unreachable beauty of unexplored worlds.
Almost like an epic poem that is told in obscurity, but able to highlight human fears and fantasies that resonate in dialogue between the inner dimension of the listener and the outer dimension of nature and urban space.

Through elements typical of literature, visual art, psychodynamics, symbol, myth, archetype, dream, unconscious, silence and projection, the music thus becomes a representation of an unconscious in which Mattioli proves to be particularly attentive in guiding within contrasting compositional and evocative works, offering a perfect balance between sublimation and expression.

From the evocative atmosphere of twilight to refreshing sleep, "Notte" explores, probes and transforms the inner world of our psyche in a journey into the depths of the night, in an encounter with the unknown that we are not always able to turn our gaze to during waking moments and where the harp becomes a protagonist, a means and an accessory in the hands of its singer.

To reach that imaginary place where the word ceases to make sense and music - in a multi-sensory experience that embraces the boundaries of the human soul - begins to acquire new ones.

Un'arpa che sussurra nel buio.

Alcuni progetti discografici si prestano più di altri all'ormai semplice appellativo di straordinario, soprattutto quando questo è testimone di un progetto che unisce in un filo d'argento il mondo onirico e la veglia in una danza di musiche che si muovono tra il calare delle tenebre e la notte profonda.

Con l'arpa come fedele compagna di viaggio, l'arpista e storico dell'arpa Giuliano Marco Mattioli presenta il suo nuovo album da solista pubblicato da Da Vinci Classics dal titolo "Notte: Solo Harp Nocturnal Works of the 20th Century". Concepito in oltre 10 anni di intensa attività - concertista, solistica e non ultimo come restauratore di arpe antiche - il progetto raggruppa con cura e perizia una vasta ridda di opere di autori e di estetica differente che provengono dall'intero Novecento e che vanno a costituire nel loro insieme una narrazione avvincente di un intreccio di paure e sogni, rivelando la bellezza intima ed inarrivabile di mondi inesplorati.
Quasi un poema epico che si racconta tutto nell'oscurità, ma in grado di mettere in luce paure e fantasie dell'uomo che risuonano in dialogo tra la dimensione interiore dell'ascoltatore e quella esterna della natura e dello spazio urbano. 

Attraverso elementi tipici della letteratura, dell'arte visiva, della psicodinamica, del simbolo, del mito, dell'archetipo, del sogno, dell'inconscio, del silenzio e della proiezione, la musica diventa così rappresentazione di un inconscio in cui Mattioli si conferma particolarmente attento nel guidare all'interno di opere compositive ed evocative contrastanti, offrendo un perfetto bilanciamento tra sublimazione ed espressione.

Dall'atmosfera suggestiva del crepuscolo al sonno ristoratore, "Notte" esplora, scandaglia e trasforma il mondo interiore della nostra psiche in un viaggio nelle profondità della notte, in un incontro con l'ignoto a cui non sempre si riesce a volgere lo sguardo durante i momenti di veglia e dove l'arpa diventa protagonista, mezzo e accessorio nelle mani del suo cantore.

Per arrivare in quel luogo immaginario in cui la parola cessa il suo senso e la musica - in un'esperienza multisensoriale che abbraccia i confini dell'animo umano - inizia ad acquisirne sempre di nuovi.
